Some opinions on the Superbuild Fund situation:

It's been a long time since I attended Trent, and a long time since I've even lived in Ontario. But I am appalled at the potential for the closure (sorry, relocation!) of the Traill and Peter Robinson colleges out to the Nassau campus (is it still called the Nassau campus?).

When I attended Trent, I was a member of Traill College. I loved the atmosphere of the older buildings, and the proximity to downtown. The Nassua campus was definitely out of touch with the life of the city, although admittedly in a beautiful location. But I certainly never considered living there, even when I no longer was staying in residence.

I consider that the college system really did foster a feeling of belonging to a group that was manageable in size, and allowed me to meet students and faculty in diverse disciplines with differing ways of perceiving and thinking.

"Relocating" Trail college to the suburban campus simply means that it is not Traill College any more. It is simply a deceptive misuse of language to say otherwise (just the kind of thing that Alberta Premier Ralph Klein does all the time).

I can't think of any good reasons to close Traill and Peter Robinson and build new dormitories (how bleak) out on the Nassau Campus.
