Letter #2 by Harry Hobbes

I have to say I was enraged to get a copy of a letter from Tony Storey that was sent to another alumni member. He is in favour of Bonnie Patterson's proposal. I also received a letter from Michael Beswick, an alumni of my generation with the same request. I wrote a sharp reply to Mike (he won't be pleased).

I am very upset that Tony Storey is supporting Bonnie Campbell on this issue. It leads one to the opinion that the Alumni Association is behind the move. Tony had the gall to tell us not to worry. We'd still be alumni if PRC and Trail are demolished. A better question might be :Do we want to associate with a university and a campus that means nothing to us?

In my time, we never went to the campus except for the odd lecture or party at Champlain College. My memories aren't there - but in the three great years I spent at PRC and living in one or the other annex. If Tony is not representing the opinion of the alumni association then he should be asked to put a disclaimer in his letters that he is representing only his own opinions.

Abraham Lincoln once said " A house divided against itself cannot stand". I fear that this current controversy might bring about the destruction of Trent the Alumni Association or both. How can I possibly offer financial support to such a disaster.
