As an original member of the Trent University community I was profoundly shocked and angered to read that the University is considering closing both Peter Robinson and Catherine Parr Traill College. In 1964 I became a member of PRC and contributed (as did many of my class) to stamping a character on that college. To think that it can be eradicated by a bulldozer and a grandiose plan to turn Trent into yet another mega-university is disgusting. Is this the idea of Bonnie Patterson? How did the university find a president so at odds with the core philosophy of Trent.
I wondered where I should register my protest. I pledged money to Trent this year but if it is going to support such a project then I will probably withhold my funds. I'm upset that the University wasn't upfront enough to even let alumni who live at a distance and who have regularly contributed to Trent even know that this was in the works. Thank you Sean Kane for your good work on our behalf.
I had considered making a bequest from my estate to Trent but now am seriously reconsidering.
