Trent
president Bonnie Patterson received more than $326K combined salary and taxable benefits in 2007, an increase of more than $17,000 or 5.5%, over 2006. Patterson has been president for 9.5 years, having arrived at Trent in July 1998, and will complete her final term in June 2009. Trent administrators recently announced a $10.5 million deficit.
Trent University paid its president more than the presidents of Brock, Laurentian, UOIT, Nipissing, Lakehead and OCAD exceeding them by $16K, $35K, $44K, $67K, $77K and $86K respectively. Trent's presidential salary is close on the heals of Windsor, Carleton, Ottaw, Ryerson and Queens presidents, each of whom were paid, respectively, $3K, $11K, $19, $23K and $25K more than the Trent president.
According to the salary disclosure for 2007 Trent's president wa paid more than any other Trent employee, exceeding the second and third highest paid employees by more than $42,000 and $123,000 respectively. In 2007 Vice President External Relations & Advancement Dianne Lister was paid $283,965 and Vice President Academic Susan Apostle-Clark $203,019.
Trent's presidential remuneration has grown by roughly 86% over what it was in 1999.

| Trent president earns $326,534 Peterborough Examiner - April 1, 2008 Only a handful of additional Trent University employees nudged into the six-figure salary mark in 2007, figures released by the university show. A total of 155 professors and administrators earned more than $100,000 last year, up about 10 per cent from 2006. President and vice-chancellor Bonnie Patterson again topped the list, earning $291,189.36 plus $35,344.70 in taxable benefits. Patterson, Trent's longest-serving president, announced in January she will remain as president and vice-chancellor until June 2009, but will not seek another term. Diane Lister, vice-president of external relations and advancement, and Susan Apostle-Clark, vice-president of academic and provost, were the only other employees to crack the $200,000 at Trent. Lister made $262,039.50 plus $21,925.21 in benefits while Apostle-Clark made $201,798.10 plus $1,220.54 in benefits While the president's salary topped the list, about 125 professors and associate professor also made six figures last year. Those salaries are determined through a contract with the faculty union. Alan Brunger was again the best paid professor at the university, earned $183,649, followed by John Milloy at $161,936 and Peter Dawson, who received $161,047.08. The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act requires provincially funded employers to disclose the names, positions, salaries and taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more for the previous year by March 31. Fleming College, which also released its salary disclosure list yesterday, had 26 staff members crack six figures in 2007, up from 21 the year before. College president Tony Tilly topped the list at $240,616.15, the only employee to make more than $200,000. |
