A Message of Welcome
Our web site, like our university, is carefully structured to anticipate and respond to your academic and information needs. Now celebrating its 40th teaching year, Trent has earned a very positive reputation as Canada's outstanding small university. I'm delighted to join Trent during this important time in its evolution. Since taking up my duties as Trent's sixth president July 1, 1998, I have found myself welcomed into a strong, dynamic and growing family of faculty, staff, students and graduates. Trent's deliberately small size and hallmark college system support our ability to focus on all university members as individuals, and as full members of an academic and social community. More than 80 per cent of our classes have fewer than 25 students, which means an environment in which students can pursue fields of interest intensively, and with ample access to teaching resources. We welcome and support students from a variety of backgrounds, including those qualified students from outside Canada who enrich the vibrancy of our campus. Whether you choose Trent because of our emphasis on the individual and interactive learning, our strong academic programs, our breathtaking natural environment or because of our well-deserved reputation as Canada's outstanding small university, you'll enjoy the satisfaction that comes from selecting wisely.
